SPOTLIGHT PROJECT: SFO TERMINAL 3 500 KW PV SYSTEM

SPOTLIGHT PROJECT: SAN FRANCISCO TERMINAL 3 PV SYSTEM

For San Francisco International Airport’s Terminal 3, BASS Electric engineered and installed a state-of-the art 500 kW photovoltaic generation system with:

  • Nearly 3,000 SunTech modules on a SunLink rack system
  • Curved array to maintain unique building aesthetic
  • Easy access to support roof structure without relocating solar array

BASS’ energy-efficiency solution also included upgrading 4,239 lighting fixtures, which resulted in:

  • Reduced daily demand by 395 kW
  • Annual energy savings of 4,460,261 kW
  • $278,600 annual energy cost savings

The power generated from the photovoltaic array covers approximately 15% of the Terminal’s annual electric consumption. The system will reduce over 7,200 tons of carbon dioxide emissions over a 30-year period.
