Solar Race Car

At the 2008 Shell Eco-Marathon Americas race, BASS Electric helped Purdue University get first place in the solar car division. We provided help with the solar products and installation training to create a winning solar race car, and more impressive, to win most efficient car of all entries with a comparative fuel economy rating of 2,861.8 mpg.

BASS Electric designed the proper size photovoltaic system, then during the construction phase of the solar car:

  • Procured all the photovoltaic cells
  • Provided training videos to manufacture the custom solar solution
  • Gave direction in the stringing and encapsulating process

By supporting research endeavors in alternative energy, BASS Electric expands capabilities, strengthens partnerships, and solidifies experience in the energy marketplace.

“Thanks! We are really really excited about the success we had!  We got some great publicity, and I think the message of the usefulness of solar energy was very apparent at the race...You were a HUGE help and one of the reasons the car turned out so well.”
